A recap of our Sept. 18 meeting: We had a lovely afternoon at Joan Martin's home (Thanks, Joan!!,) and the six of us were mesmerized by the movie of A TALE OF TWO CITIES by Charles Dickens. The movie brings to life the French Revolution - and shows a marked contrast to the American Revolution. Ronald Colman as the hero Sidney Carton and Edna Mae Oliver as Miss Pross (the faithful companion) are superb in their roles. We were all so moved by the strong messages of sacrifice and redemption and agreed that "generations will remember one who acts from the pure motivation of Love." We all highly recommend this book and this movie. ............. And we all thought of Alison who was celebrating her daughter's wedding that day!
For October 16th we are reading Francine Rivers' HER MOTHER'S HOPE. There are copies available at some public libraries, and I assume that the church has a copy. Joan M. has already loaned out her copy - and I will probably have a copy available in a week or so. Also, HER DAUGHTER'S DREAM is now on sale at Sam's if anyone wants to own the sequel.
