First of all, we want to welcome a new attendee to the book club, Margie Zandra. Margie has been coming to Grace since the Spring. Welcome, Margie!
As you all know, we try to read a book of the Bible every year. Our book club has already read Acts, 1st & 2nd Kings and Esther. We decided that we were going to take a vote to see which book of the Bible we are going to read this time. Please take time today or tomorrow to let me know 3 suggestions for books of the Bible you would like to read. I will put all the votes together and we will choose the one that gets the most votes. The sooner you give your input, the sooner I can get the word out. I want to be able to have all votes in by Wednesday evening, 9/21. Put your thinking caps on and send me THREE BOOKS OF THE BIBLE you would like to suggest.
SUMMER READING ASSIGNMENT:
Everyone who had a chance to read Valley of the Vision: Puritan Prayers & Devotions thoroughly enjoyed it. We read several of them out loud. It is a book to digest slowly. I keep mine on my night stand. Some of you have had this book for a long time. I didn't even know about it until Linda Peterson (previous Book Club leader) suggested it to me. So actually, this was her recommendation. Thanks, Linda! By the way, Linda, I went ahead and said those famous five words in your place: "So, what did you think?"

One other housekeeping item: We discussed taking the holidays off including Nov-Dec. That means we would read a book of the Bible for Oct and then have a reading assignment for January. Is this still the consensus? I would like to see us get together in November or December for a lunch, dinner, potluck, etc. We could do a reading like we've done in the past. What are your thoughts about this?
