Book Club is Sunday, Feb 15th at 1:15pm in the GCC Library

I decided that it might be easier for some of you to view the blog from a website so we now have a website. Go to www.mambosbookclub.com at anytime (save it in your FAVORITES) to see what is going on with Book Club. Remember that if you want to leave a "comment" -- use the "Comment" button on the most recent "POST" (the one at the top). This will take a while to get you all used to this format, but I think you will find that it is an easier and always a more updated way to communicate.

Remember to bring a Sandwich or something to eat and bring a snack to share if you like. Would someone like to bring drinks (tea, coffee, etc.) or snacks? I heard rumors that someone might be bringing a crock pot of something -- nummy!

Same Kind of Different As Me: A Modern-Day Slave, an International Art Dealer, and the Unlikely Woman Who Bound Them Together by Ron Hall and Denver Moore.

or

Fireflies in December by Jennifer Erin Valent.

Read one or the other or... if you are really motivated -- BOTH.

It was brought up that each person should bring their own sandwich, etc. and then we could have some people bring snacks to share. Please let us know what you would like to bring.

Welcome to Mambo's Book Club Blog

It's official. Mambo's Book Club now has a Blog. I thought this might be an easier way to keep track of meetings, books being read, etc. If you subscribe to this Blog, you will always be updated. If you forget a book, you can always access the Blog from any computer and know what is going on. No more waiting for a response to an e-mail request.

For those of you who do not know where the name Mambo's Book Club came from, let me explain:

Mambo was the nickname given by the grandchildren of the previous pastor's mother. Dave Stout's mom--Thelma Stout (for whom the GCC library was named) was given the name Mambo by her grandchildren. Thelma was the found of Mambo's Book Club many, many moons ago. So, in honor of her, the book club was given this cherished name.

If you have an idea of what I should post on this Blog, please let me know. You can also respond or comment to the "posts" and give your opinions on a book when you are not able to attend the meeting. This is perfect for all the out-of-towners.

We will generally meet at Grace Community Church's library unless someone would like to open their home for a meeting. It's been great getting together in the library surrounded by all those great books. Thank you to all of those who have brought snacks, tea & coffee!
